Getting Started

Steve Jobs is one of the most famous entrepreneurs in history. He co-founded Apple, a company that changed the world with its innovative products. But before he became a legend, Steve Jobs was just a young man with big dreams.

From a young age, Jobs was fascinated by electronics and technology. At the age of 12, he called William Hewlett, the co-founder of Hewlett-Packard, to ask for parts for a project he was working on. Hewlett was so impressed by Steve’s initiative that he offered him a summer internship at HP. Jobs later stated that this experience taught him the value of asking others for opportunities.

In 1976, at just 21 years old, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple Computer in Steve’s parents’ garage. To fund their venture, Steve sold his Volkswagen bus, and Wozniak sold his scientific calculator. Their first product was the Apple I, a kit for building a personal computer. Although it was primarily sold to hobbyists, it generated enough interest and income to help them develop their next product, the Apple II.

Jobs’ collaboration with Wozniak was crucial for Apple’s success. Wozniak was the engineering genius behind Apple’s computers, while Steve Jobs focused on selling and marketing. Wozniak’s simple but clever designs used fewer parts than other computers but worked better, which helped make computers more affordable for regular people.

The Apple II was revolutionary. It was the first personal computer to include color graphics. It had a sleek and attractive design, and it’s user-friendly features moved personal computing beyond hobbyists and into homes and businesses.
