This episode takes place during a New York City blackout. All the lights in the city are out and the buildings have no power. This caused an ATM kiosk door to lock, and it trapped Chandler inside. Chandler was very happy to find himself stuck
in this small room with a beautiful model from Victoria's Secret named
Jill Goodacre. She was nice and let him use her cell phone. She even offered him some chewing gum. Chandler turned down the offer because it wasn’t sugarless gum, but he immediately regretted saying no. When he finally took the gum, he tried to blow a bubble and accidentally spit it out. He then picked up someone else’s gum by accident, and put it in his mouth. When he realized his mistake, he panicked and then started choking. Luckily, Jill saved him by using a special technique called the Heimlich maneuver. After that, Chandler and Jill began to chat with each other. When the power came back on, Jill kissed him and left. Chandler then spoke to the security camera in the bank, asking for a copy of the video recording.
Meanwhile, the other characters from "Friends" were in Monica's apartment, passing the time
by candlelight. Joey told Ross that he has waited too long to tell
Rachel how he felt about her, and now she only saw him as a friend. Ross
still tried to confess his feelings to Rachel while they looked at the stars on the balcony. Joey kept the other girls inside by pretending that Ross was planning a surprise birthday party for Monica. Suddenly, a stray cat jumped onto Ross' shoulders just as he was about to speak to Rachel. It was a funny scene where Ross panicked and tried to get rid of the cat, but it clung to him with its claws. All of this happened while Phoebe, Monica, and Joey were singing and didn't notice Ross struggling with the cat.
Rachel
and Phoebe went to their neighbors' doors to find the cat's owner. One
neighbor, Mr. Heckles, lied and said he was the owner, but they knew he
was lying. During their search, they met a handsome man named Paolo, who
turned out to be the real owner of the cat. Rachel thinks Paolo, who
can only speak Italian, is sexy and she falls for him. It is obvious
that Ross is jealous of Paolo. Even Joey is jealous of how all the ladies are reacting to Paolo. Eventually, the candles burn out and they are all in the dark. When the lights suddenly come back on, everyone sees Rachel kissing Paolo passionately. Ross acts like he can't breathe or he's having a heart attack.
