At work, Chandler faces a challenging situation. He needs to fire an employee for the first time in his career. That person is Nina, a very attractive woman. Chandler calls her into his office but he becomes so nervous about firing her that he asks her out for dinner instead. Despite his friends advising him not to mix work and personal life, Chandler doesn't listen and starts dating Nina.
Chandler tries to keep his relationship with Nina a secret, but his boss becomes suspicious when he sees her still working at the company. To cover up the situation, Chandler lies and says that Nina has mental health issues, which convinces his boss to let her keep her job.
People begin acting strange around Nina, like her colleagues taking away her scissors. So she becomes puzzled and goes to Chandler’s office to ask his advice. In an attempt to redirect the conversation, Chandler promises her a raise. However, Chandler’s assistant mentions Nina's psychological profile over the speaker phone. Apparently, Nina discovers the truth, and later we find out that Nina got upset and stapled Chandler's hand.
Meanwhile, Ross goes with his ex, Carol, and her partner, Susan, to birthing classes. Carol gets scared while watching a birthing video. Susan comforts her by reminding her about the journey of parenthood they'll share. The seriousness of the situation makes Ross question his own abilities as a future parent.
While dining out, Joey and Chandler meet Phoebe's twin sister, Ursula. Joey asks Phoebe’s permission to date her sister and Phoebe reluctantly agrees. However, Phoebe is really worried that Ursula might break Joey’s heart and also ruin her and Joey’s friendship. Her friends try to reassure her that after only a week, the relationship is probably not that serious. However, when Phoebe goes to see Joey at his apartment, Ursula comes to the door wearing nothing but Joey’s shirt. This causes Phoebe to worry even more.
Rachel was responsible for taking down Christmas lights long past the holiday. Rachel finally gets around to it and she ends up falling from the balcony. Luckily her foot gets tangled up in the light strands, and we see her dangling outside of Mr Heckles’s window.
