Friends S2E2
The One With The Breast Milk
[TV series - comedy]
Getting Started

At Monica’s apartment, Phyllis gives the baby, Ben, a new pair of Nikes and says “Just do it! The baby begins to cry Joey and Chandler are sitting next to Carol. They are surprised, and feel a bit awkward, when Carol begins breast-feeding Ben. The guys get up and leave and Ross follows them and explains that this is a very natural and beautiful thing and that they might feel more comfortable just asking Carol about it.

Although Ross feels breast feeding is natural, he finds the idea of tasting breast milk a bit disgusting. Phyllis and Joey give it a try and they are okay with it. When Ross discovers that Susan has tasted it, he doesn’t want to be outdone by her, so he decides to taste it. Nevertheless, he could not go through with it.

At the coffee shop, Julie mentions she can get a big discount from her friend at Bloomingdale’s and wants to know who would like to go with her. Monica volunteers. Joey, Chandler and Phoebe warn her that if Rachel finds out she will be very upset. Monica can’t rally get out of it because her brother Ross is so happy that she’s going shopping with his new girlfriend.

Rachel catches Monica with Bloomingdale’s shopping bags. Monica had told Phoebe to cover for her and say they went shopping together. Phoebe is a terrible liar and nearly blows the cover. Monica develops a friendship with Julie and they begin to do things together, but she hides all this from Rachel.

One day Rachel discovers a lunch bill in Julie’s jacket pocket. She asks Monica who she went to lunch with. Monica also lies terribly, so she finally tells Rachel the truth. Of course, Rachel freaks out and the two begin to argue like a married couple. Later, Rachel explains to Monica how she already lost Ross to Julie, and now she feels Julie will take away Monica too. Monica reassures Rachel that no one can ever replace her. They make up and hug, and Phoebe joins in so as not to feel left out.

Monica tries to persuade Rachel that if she gave Julie a chance, she would like her. Rachel approaches Julie and tries to befriend her. Julie admits to Rachel that she finds Rachel a bit intimidating and that she thought that Rachel didn’t like her. Julie feigns friendship, but when Julie leaves, Rachel mutters, “what a manipulative bitch.”

In the meantime, Joey is dealing with his new part-time job of promoting men’s cologne at a department store. He likes a pretty girl named Annebelle who also works at the store. But he is being outdone by another “cologne spritzer” called the Hombre Man, whom Annebelle likes. The Hombre Man and Joey start competing with each other over customers. Luckily for Joey, the Hombre Man sprays a customer in the face and probably lost his job. Joey takes Annebelle out for coffee.

At the end, Ross finally gives the breast milk a try. He says “not bad” as he follows up by stuffing Oreo cookies into his mouth.
