Canterville Ghost

  1. A ghost has been haunting the Canterville castle for 300 years.
  2. One night as Mr. Otis lay in his bed, he heard footsteps coming from the hall.
  3. He also heard the squeaking sound of rusty chains.
  4. Mr. Otis got up and took a small bottle of oil out of his case.
  5. He opened the bedroom door and came face to face with a terrible ghost.
  6. The ghost had rusty chains hanging from his arms.
  7. Mr. Otis handed the oil to the Ghost and told him it was for the squeak in his rusty chains.
  8. The ghost was shocked. He'd been scaring people for 300 years.
  9. Now this idiot American offers him a bottle of oil?
  10. He was insulted and hurried away angrily.
