Vampires

Getting Started
an Image

A vampire is a creature from folklore, said to be undead—neither completely human nor completely dead. Their skin is pale, and they are immortal; they cannot die naturally. Vampires feed on the blood of the living, roaming the world at night in search of weak-minded victims from whom they can drink blood.

How does a Vampire Target and Lure its Victims?

Vampires are known for their cunning and charm, often appearing as attractive humans to lure victims to their lair. Charming their victims with irresistible sweet talk is how they lure their prey. Naive individuals who are easily persuaded are their primary target. If they can’t succeed in luring someone to their place, they come through open windows to find sleeping victims.

What are a Vampire's Powers?

Vampires have supernatural powers, including great strength and speed. Unless someone destroys them, they will live forever. Some vampires have the ability to control the minds of their victims. They have heightened senses, such as enhanced smell, sight, and hearing—detecting a heartbeat from far away. Their hypnotic gaze can paralyze you with fear. Turning into bats, rats, or foxes is how they travel in disguise.

What are a Vampire's Weaknesses?

Vampires cannot go out in the sunlight, as it will burn them; and too much exposure will kill them. Garlic and the holy symbol of a cross can keep them away. If all windows and doors are closed, they can’t enter a personal residence unless they are invited in (however, even one open window is a standing invitation to enter by door or window).

How can a Vampire be Destroyed?

There are a few ways to destroy a vampire. One sure way is to drive a wooden stake through its heart. Another is to expose it to sunlight for a minute or two. And yet another way is cutting off its head and burying it separately from his body.

How can You Protect Yourself?

To protect yourself from vampires, wear a cross or carry garlic. Keep windows and doors closed, and avoid wandering alone in the dark.

How can You Recognize a Vampire?

Recognizing a vampire can be difficult, as they look like humans. However, vampires do not have reflections in mirrors and do not cast shadows. Look for signs like an aversion to sunlight and unusually sharp canine teeth.

In some vampire stories, vampires are not monsters. They struggle with their curse, seeking to control their hunger and live among humans. To survive, they may drink animal blood or buy/steal blood from hospitals or blood banks.
