Emma
had a long list of errands to
run today. Before leaving, she called ahead to the
pharmacy to place an order for her grandmother’s meds.
First, she went to the supermarket to do her
grocery shopping. As she was picking out
fresh vegetables, she bumped her cart and accidentally knocked
a carton of eggs onto the floor, breaking nearly every egg. She was
so embarrassed when a clerk announced over the intercom,
“Clean up on aisle four.”
After the supermarket, Emma drove to the post office
to mail some packages. The line was long, and when it was finally her
turn, she realized she had left one of the packages in her
car. She rushed back to get it, only to find that she had locked her
keys inside. She had to call a locksmith and wait for him to
arrive and unlock her car.
After that, Emma headed to the bank
to deposit a check. She had trouble finding a good parking
spot. As she hurried to the bank, she tripped on a crack in
the sidewalk and landed on her hands and knees. She dropped her purse, tore a hole in her jeans, and bruised her knee. She gathered the things that
had fallen from her purse, stood up, brushed herself off, and
went into the bank.
At the teller’s window, she reached in her purse to get
her check, but it wasn’t there. It must have fallen out of her
purse when she dropped it. Emma raced out of the bank to find it.
She quickly retraced her steps and,
fortunately, found her check
under a bench near the place
where she had fallen.
Next, Emma stopped by the pharmacy to pick up her
grandma’s medicine. At the counter, however, they said that
her prescription wasn't ready yet and she would have to come
back later.
She left the pharmacist and went to the dry cleaners.
There, things seemed to go smoothly as she dropped off
her work clothes.
The next errand on Emma’s to-do list was getting
her car’s oil changed, so she went to the mechanic
for her usual vehicle maintenance. The mechanic
found several other issues with her car, which would take longer and
cost more to fix than she had anticipated.
While waiting for her car, she walked to a nearby coffee
shop to relax with a latte and a book. Unfortunately, when
she stood up to go to the restroom, she spilled her coffee all over
her book.
The mechanic called and said her car was ready. Finally, Emma
headed home, exhausted and ready to relax after a chaotic
day of running errands and dealing with mishaps.
After arriving home, Emma glanced in the back seat and saw
a bag of clothes she meant to donate to charity. Taking
a closer look, she realized that those were her working clothes. She
had dropped off the wrong bag of clothes at the dry cleaners!
