Kayla: Welcome back to The Mom Chat! So, today I read this article and I genuinely almost dropped my coffee. An 11-year-old boy ran away from home — and made it all the way to Spain!

Susan: Wait, Spain? Like, Spain, Spain?

Kayla: Yes! His mom lost track of him at a shopping center. He apparently walked two miles to the airport, latched onto a family so he'd look like he belonged with them, snuck past passport control AND boarding pass checks, and got on a plane!

Susan: Oh my gosh. I lose my kid in Target for two minutes and I'm having a full panic attack. This mom lost her kid and he ended up on another continent!

Kayla: Right?! And here's the part that gets me — nobody noticed him until he started telling passengers mid-flight that he was running away from home. If he'd just kept quiet, he would've landed in Spain and disappeared.

Susan: That is terrifying. My heart hurts for that mom. People will judge her, but honestly, kids are fast and sneaky. We've all been there.

Kayla: Exactly. But I also can't help thinking — this kid is quite the fearless adventurer to pull off an international escape like that!

Susan: That's what I was thinking too. I mean, he could have chickened out at any moment, but he just kept going. That is one bold, daring kid.

Kayla: And five airport workers got suspended! The airport says it wasn't a security breach because he went through the metal detector. But they didn't check his passport or boarding pass? Twice?

Susan: So a kid with no ticket and no passport gets on an international flight, but I get pulled aside at security for a four-ounce bottle of sunscreen. Make it make sense!

Kayla: Honestly! Look, I'm grateful he's home safe. But this is every parent's nightmare on so many levels. Hug your kids tight, moms.

Susan: And maybe have a really good talk with them about running away.
