7-Unit Series

Modern Workplace English

Real conversations  ·  CEFR B1–B2  ·  American English

Seven units built around one office, one team, and the everyday situations that bring them together — and sometimes apart. Each unit features a main dialogue, vocabulary, mini-dialogues, comprehension questions, a language focus section, and discussion prompts.

Unit 1 The Breakroom Stale coffee, missing lunches, and a cracked coffee pot — Marcus, Priya, and Dev take stock of their breakroom situation and start making plans. Unit 2 Big News Director Parker's retirement is the talk of the office. Two names are circulating as possible replacements — and not everyone feels the same way about either one. Unit 3 The Job Posting The Director of Operations position is officially open. Priya and Marcus think Dev should apply. Dev isn't so sure he's ready. Unit 4 The Team Meeting Dev's first act as the new director? The coffee pot handle snaps off in Marcus's hand. Time to talk upgrades — drip, grind-and-brew, or single-serve pod? Unit 5 Working from Home A company-wide email announces a new hybrid work schedule. Marcus likes the current 5-day workplace set up. Priya likes the flex days policy but not upper management's decision process. Dev is already thinking about anchor days. Unit 6 The Communication Problem Flex days have scattered the team across too many apps and inboxes. Information is falling through the cracks — and the team needs one solution, not seven. Unit 7 Parker's Retirement Gala Three speeches, one evening. CEO Chesterfield honors a legacy. Parker passes the baton to Dev. Dev looks to the future.
