Emma: Hey everyone, welcome back to the show! So, Sarah, did you catch that article we shared on our page about chocolate being the "king of treats"?
Sarah: Oh, absolutely! I definitely have a massive sweet tooth, so I was nodding along the whole time. Chocolate really hits the spot when I'm in the mood for it - which is almost always.
Emma: Me too! But what really blew my mind was the history part. Can you imagine drinking it bitter and spicy like the ancient Mayans did? Without any sugar?
Sarah: Right? Talk about a shock to the system! I’m so glad someone down the road finally decided to sweeten it up. But for sure, chocolate is my absolute go-to comfort food.
Emma: Same here! Whenever I’m super stressed out, I just start inhaling it. Like last week, before our big live stream, I was so nervous that I demolished three super-sized chocolate bars while I was prepping for the show!
Sarah: We've all been there. And it should be no surprise, the article mentioned that chocolate releases those feel-good chemicals in your brain. It's basically survival, right? Though, for me, it can be a double-edged sword.
Emma: Oh, really? How do you mean?
Sarah: Well, after a couple of bad breakups I went through, chocolate became my coping mechanism. I mean on the one hand, I did feel better at first, but before I knew it, I’d packed on a few pounds and my favorite jeans wouldn't fit anymore!
Emma: Oh, been there! But hey, don't beat yourself up. Sometimes you just need that emotional rescue. It really is a universal language of comfort.
Sarah: I had to go on a diet, but couldn't give it up completely. Now I stick to just a couple of squares of dark chocolate a day. It's just enough to kill my sweet cravings.
Emma: That’s smart, I think I'll try that myself. And I think we both need to find better ways to cope with stress. But for now, we're out of time.
Sarah: And just in time too. All this talk of chocolate is making my mouth water. We need a snack break before we start our next recording.
Emma: Way ahead of you! I’ve got a block of dark chocolate sitting right here. Okay everyone, until next time .... Bye
